Standard Card Size

The standard trading card size is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches (6.4 cm x 8.9 cm) — a format established by Topps that became the universal standard for the industry.

This size hit the sweet spot: small enough to fit into albums, sleeves, and toploaders, but large enough to showcase detailed artwork, photos, and text. It also made for efficient printing and cutting, keeping production costs manageable.

While variations exist — oversized cards, mini cards, and specialty formats — the 2.5 x 3.5-inch card remains the backbone of the hobby. Every sleeve, toploader, and display case is built around this size. When someone says "a card," this is the size everyone pictures.
